The Public Procurement Authority has a long-standing commitment to ensuring that sustainable criteria are embedded in and become a natural part of national public procurement culture in the preparation and conduct of public procurement procedures. At the end of 2022, the sustainability activities of the Authority were confirmed by the adoption of the Green Public Procurement Strategy for Hungary 2022-2027 by the Government of Hungary in its Decision No. 1646/2022 (of 22.12.). The strategy provides a coherent framework for sectoral action on green public procurement and creates the conditions for both national contracting authorities and tenderers to be prepared for the possible obligation to apply green public procurement in a broader scope. In accordance with the Strategy, the Authority acts as a green public procurement competence centre to promote public procurements with environmental criteria and to support green transition by developing green public procurement solutions that can be directly translated into practice and by creating a green toolbox. The Authority has drawn up guidelines for procurement items whose green public procurement can be easily implemented in practice, based on domestic and international experience.
In order to disseminate information related to sustainable public procurement as widely as possible, the Authority operates a separate microsite: https://fenntarthato.kozbeszerzes.hu/
