The National Communications Office

The National Communications Office is a central purchasing body in Hungary, which has been a central budgetary body since 29 October 2014, with nationwide jurisdiction.

The tasks of the Office are defined in detail in the Government Decree No. 162/2020 (IV. 30.) on the legal status of the National Communications Office and on governmental communications procurement (hereinafter: Government Decree), according to which the Office:

  • shall provide professional supervision and coordination of the procurement and sponsorship of communication and organisational development of the organisations covered by the scope of Government Decree (hereinafter: organisations),
  • examine and evaluate the annual communication and organisational development plans of the organisations,
  • assess the communication and organisation development procurement and sponsorship needs of the organisations,
  • preparing and conducting the procurement procedures for communication and organisational development, acting as the central purchasing body for the benefit of the organisations,
  • commenting on the initiation of modifications to contracts concluded on the basis of communication and organisational development procurements and to sponsorship declarations.
